Service: | Ninety Minute Prenatal Massage change There is no need for any major precautions during a healthy, normal
pregnancy. If you have any reason to suspect an abnormal or difficult
pregnancy, please let your therapist know. Massage can be a safe and
wonderful way to decrease discomfort associated with pregnancy. Positioning:
I can accomodate prone and supine positions with the BodyCusion Support
system, but often the most comfortable position is side-lying. Heat
and Pressure: Applying external heat while pregnant is contraindicated,
and very deep techniques are typically uncomfortable and unwise. Most
prenatal massages involve flowing gentler strokes to alleviate pain,
swelling, and muscle tension. Safety: The risks of massage on
pregnant women is very often exaggerated, but it is important to take
the necessary precautions and be sure that both mother and child are
safe throughout. Please let me know if you have any concerns.
"High-risk" pregnancies should first get a doctor's release. *new clients must arrive 15 minutes early for intake forms* |
